| Biostar TA890FXE Socket AM3/AMD 890FX/ATI CrossFireX/SATA 6Gbps/ATX Motherboard |
|
With same color scheme as Biostar TA890GXE motherboard that reviewed earlier, Biostar TA890FXE motherboard is more intended for enthusiast users. Based on AMD 890FX chipset, Biostar TA890FXE computer motherboard brings nice features like four PCI Express x16 slots, six SATA 6Gbps ports, solid capacitors, core unlocking utility and more. Biostar TA890FXE mainboard offers support to multi-GPU with quad CrossFireX configuration. Unfortunately, this AMD motherboard doesn't support SLI configuration. At least Biostar used different colors to identify the x16 slots. So if you want to install two video cards make sure to use the white slots. However, Biostar could make a better job identifying which slot runs at x4 and which one runs at x1. Biostar TA890FXE motherboard has four DDR3 sockets to provide 16 GB with it and it is said supports DDR3 memories up to 1,600 MHz through overclocking. On the rear panel of this AMD motherboard, you'll get keyboard and mouse PS/2 connectors, optical SPDIF output, coaxial SPDIF output, six USB 2.0 ports, one FireWire port, one eSATA-600 port, one Gigabit Ethernet port, and independent analog 7.1 audio outputs. | Biostar TA890GXE AMD 890GX/ Socket AM3/ Hybrid CrossFireX micro-ATX Motherboard |
|
Biostar TA890GXE motherboard is an AMD motherboard based on AMD 890GX/SB850 chipset with microATX form-factor motherboard so it can fit into nearly any case. Biostar TA890GXE motherboard is compatible with any socket AM3 processor, so it's possible to install an entry level socket AM3 Sempron or a six-core Phenom II X6 1090T processor. Like another socket AM3 motherboards, Biostar TA890GXE has built-in Radeon HD 4290 and only supports DDR3 memory module with four memory DIMMs that support up to 16GB of DDR3-800/1066/1333/1600(OC) RAM module. The HD 4290 is not of much use for hardcore gaming, but when it comes to plain old desktop 2D graphics or HD video decoding, the HD 4290 is more than powerful enough. The AMD 890GX chipset is paired with the SB850 makes Biostar TA890GXE mainboard also supports SATA 6Gbps with five internal connections in total and it is added a VIA VT6330 controller for an additional eSATA II port and IDE connector. However, Biostar TA890GXE computer motherboard still doesn't support USB 3.0. With price tag only $99.99 at Amazon.com, Biostar TA890GXE is a cost-effective AMD motherboard solution that forgoes some performance and tweaking features but delivers on most of the core features that have made the AMD 890GX chipset a hit.

| Biostar TH55XE HDMI Motherboard |
|

Motherboards based on Intel H55, H57 and Q57 chipsets are targeted to the Core i3 and Core i5 processors with integrated video. It is important to understand that with socket 1156 CPUs, the integrated video is produced by the processor and not by the motherboard chipset, as it occurred until now. There are processors with integrated video and processors without this feature, so the motherboard has only the interface and connectors necessary to route the video signal generated by the CPU. You can install CPUs with an integrated video processor or without, but with CPUs without a video processor you won’t have on-board video, needing an add-on video card. Of course with a processor with integrated video you still have the option to install an add-on card and disable its video engine. The Socket 1156 CPUs, like socket 1366 and AMD processors, have an embedded memory controller. Since the memory controller is inside the CPU, it is the processor -- and not the chipset -- that defines what memory technologies and the maximum amount of memory you can have. The integrated memory controller from socket 1156 processors supports only DDR3 memories up to 1,333 MHz under dual-channel architecture, but Biostar TH55XE Intel motherboard supports memories working up to 2,000 MHz, through overclocking. You can have up to 16 GB, if you install four 4 GB modules. Biostar TH55XE Intel mainboard comes with one x16 PCI Express 2.0 slot, one x4 PCI Express slot (you can install x1 expansion cards on it) and two standard PCI slots. Even though Intel H55 chipset does not provide a parallel ATA port, Biostar TH55XE Intel motherboard has one, controlled by a JMicron JMB368 chip. While two FireWire (IEEE1394) ports are available controlled by an LSI FW322 chip. As a Intel motherboard with onboard video solution, Biostar TH55XE mainboard comes with the three most common types of video connection: VGA, DVI-D and HDMI, but only two of them can be used at the same time. Biostar TH55XE motherboard has seven phases on its voltage regulator circuit, five for the CPU, two for the VTT (voltage bus that feeds the CPU L3 memory cache, integrated memory controller and CPU I/O pins) and one for the integrated graphics processor.

Targeting a motherboard for budget offering is a difficult task because when cutting costs, features tend to get the axe as well. With the Biostar TP35D2-A7 motherboard price "only" around USD $100, Biostar had to leave a few things on this Intel motherboard. Since Firewire Support and multi-GPU CrossFire configurations is not really necessary on such an inexpensive motherboard, Biostar choosed to remove those feature from this Biostar motherboard. We can even live with the fact that the vanilla Intel ICH9 has only four SATA ports and lacks Native Command Queuing and RAID functionality. With Intel's entire ICH9 lineup lacking "parallel" ATA support, Biostar is forced to farm out IDE duties to an auxiliary chip from Marvell.
Unfortunately, the Ethernet performance of Biostar TP35D2-A7 motherboard is harder to ignore. Not only does the motherboard's PCI-based Gigabit Ethernet chip offer throughput that falls well short of the competition, its CPU utilization eclipses 40% with a Core 2 Duo E6700 processor. Poor networking performance of this motherboard is really the only glaring problem with the Biostar TP35D2-A7 motherboard, though. The performance itself is otherwise competitive with Intel P35 motherboards that cost twice as much, and that's pretty impressive all on its own. With a decent array of overclocking and tweaking options in the BIOS, Biostar TP35D2-A7 motherboard is a solid budget board.

nVidia's GeForce 7050PV chipset includes a dedicated Video Processing Engine especially for High-Definition video - this is known as PureVideo. PureVideo supports hardware accelerated MPEG, VC-1 and WMV9 video decoding for greater energy efficiency (or, longer battery life where notebooks are concerned), as it helps to reduce CPU utilisation while watching movies. In addition, there are post processing features like Motion Adaptive De-interlacing, High Quality video scaling with improved inverse telecine algorithms like 2:2 and 3:2 pull-down correction. There is also support for Microsoft Video Mixing Renderer (VMR) for multiple, independent video playbacks at full quality and definition. GeForce 7050PV chipset also support native HDCP and integrates HDMI 1.2 on-board. Seeing as there’s no decoder or receiver that can work with Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master HD audio over a digital connection and the fact that Windows itself is still limited to just 24-bit colour (+8-bit alpha = “32-bit”) with no support for 36-bit colour (Deep Colour) on the horizon, HDMI 1.3 support is fairly pointless at the moment. The GeForce 7050PV chipset includes native TV out support as well, meaning you can also use either composite, S-video or component outputs. This gives the 7050PV chipset a competitive feature set compared to AMD's 690G, and makes it a potential HTPC chipset of choice.
You can see a short technical documentation of Biostar TF7050-M2 motherboard below :
- Processor : AMD Socket AM2 processors

| Biostar TP35D3-A7 Deluxe |
|

Comes with Intel P35 chipset, make Biostar TP35D3-A7 Deluxe motherboard supports native DDR3 1333 MHz. The DDR3's prefetch buffer width is 8 bit, whereas DDR2's is 4 bit, and DDR's is "only" 2 bit. Theoretically, these modules could transfer data at the effective clockrate of 800-1600MHz (for a single clock bandwidth of 400-800MHz), compared to DDR2's current range of 400-1066 MHz (200-533 MHz) or DDR's range of 200-600 MHz (100-300 MHz). To date, such bandwidth requirements have been mainly on the graphics market, where fast transfer of information between framebuffers is required. Biostar uses solid capacitor for this motherboard, so it provides extreme durability and secure performance of your system.
SPACE–Pipe is a new silent north bridge cooling device. It uses a heat-pipe to conduct heat from the chipset heatsink to a PWM fin-heatsink collection module. Airflow from the CPU fan then removes the heat collected from the CPU, the chipset, and PWM fin-heatsink, effectively cooling your system with no additional noise. And all of this is based on materials used in the space industry. This SPACE-Pipe technology lets your computer becomes more silent. Beside of that, there are some Biostar innovations technology such as "Clean-Tone" Audio design (reduces high frequencies noise generated by a motherboard), ONE (Overclock Navigator Engine), T-Power (All in one utility interface), Rapid Switch (the Power and Reset buttons are built on-board) and another innovative features. Unfortunately, this Intel motherboard doesn't provide FireWire connector.
Let's take a look of some technical data about this Biostar's motherboard :
- Processor : Intel LGA775 processors
- Chipset : Intel P35 / ICH9R
- FSB : 800 / 1066 / 1333 MHz
- Memory : 4 x DDR3 (800/1066/1333 MHz)
- Multiplier : Auto
- Form Factor : ATX (30.5cm x 24.4cm)
- AGP/PCI/PCIe x16/PCIe x4/PCIe x1 : 0/2/1/0/3
- USB/FireWire/Serial/Paralel : 6(3)/0/1/1

| Biostar TForce P965 Deluxe |
|
Intel's Core 2 Duo takes a whole new architecture, throws in a smattering of impressive sounding tweaks, twists and optimizations then packages it all in a 65nm, dual core, Quad Pumped 1066MHz package. The P965 chipset has proven itself time and time again as an overclocker’s dream chipset allowing Core 2 Duo overclocks well into the 3GHz+ rang using the slowest Core 2 Duo processor, the E6300.
This computer motherboard does not support dual video card configurations such as ATI’s Crossfire, or NVIDIA’s SLI technologies. Memory speeds of up to DDR 800 are officially supported using DDR 2 memory modules. Following industry trends, the TForce P965 requires few components to operate as a full system. Components needed include an LGA 775 processor, ATX 2.0 power supply, hard drive, DDR 2 memory, and a video card. Biostar chose to integrate the following components into the TForce P965; 1 EIDE ATA-133 port; 1 floppy port; 6 SATA 3G ports on the ICH8R south bridge; 10x USB 2.0 compatible ports (6 on the rear panel, and 2 onboard headers supporting 2 ports each); 1 Gigabit Ethernet port on the rear panel; Realtek ALC883 8+2 Channel HD Audio Codec with SPDIF out ports on the back IO panel and as always, the standard PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports.
This computer motherboard specs are :
- Processor : Intel Socket 775, FSB 1066MHz
- Chipset : Intel P965 + ICH8R
- Memory slots : 4
- Form factor : ATX
- AGP/PCI/PCIe x16/PCIe x4/PCIe x1 : 0/3/1/1/1
