XFX MIA78S8209 |
|
If you need a workable integrated graphics card and lots room for upgrades, you can consider this XFX motherboard. XFX MIA78S8209 comes with AM2+ support, means quad AMD compatible, 4 DDR2 slots which maxes out at 8 GB, onboard of NVIDIA GeForce 8 series, 3 USB headers as well, PCIe 2.0 for those newer graphics cards, 6 SATA headers, an IDE header and not forget about an FDD. There is a 2 digit LCD at the back panel so that you can monitor your system temperature. The connection of the integrated graphics card is quite complete. This AMD motherboard has D-Sub, DVI and HDMI Port. Using Hybrid technology, you can connect a 9800 series card up with this motherboard and use both simultaneously. So, no need to buy 2 identical cards. Hybrid SLI needs 2GB or more to work and not in all GeForce cards. The GeForce 8200 integrated graphics can runs middle demand games like FIFA 08, NFS Pro Street and Age of Empires III at ‘OK’ speeds, at medium details, 20-35 fps. However, the high end DirectX 10 games such as World in Conflict, Ghost Recon and Assassin’s Creed are too much. This XFX board can works with no EPS12V power suply but it needs at least the 4 Pin power in the 8 Pin connector. The onboard sound (Realtek) blows, XFX could do themselves a favor or seek a new audio partner for their boards. Chipset drivers or BIOS issue (don’t sure) cause PC can’t wake-up when in sleep mode. Sometimes, this AMD board reports a CMOS Checksum error and then Vista loads with an intolerable amount of flicker. The DVI doesn’t work too. It says there’s a jumper for changing the settings for DVI or HDMI. Changed that yet nothing happen, even when vista boots. Don’t forget about mATX, so this board is smaller than usual and some people may want the extra slots.
